Gabe's First Meal

Since the kid was downing over 9 ounces each feeding (you would insult him with less and pay the consequences), we decided he was ready for some "real" food. First we tried some delicata squash which is naturally pretty sweet. He cried after the second or third bite. After a few days of this, we decided to switch to rice cereal, a more traditional first food. He did seem to take to that better and in just a few short weeks he is digging into the squash like its the best thing ever!

Christmas 2009

Well, Gabe had a good first Christmas and we even got our first tree. It's an odd thing too because we live in the Christmas tree capital of the world.

Even Uncle Nate came to visit us...(no, that's not Santa)

What did Santa bring for Sage?

A Sourdough Story

About 4 months ago I decided to start a sourdough culture. Since I wanted to keep it as authentic as possible, I started with a little bit of high quality flour, a splash of spring water and a whole lot of hope. The goal is not only to capture the natural bacteria that exist in the air, but more importantly, the RIGHT bacteria (and believe me I had some invasive critters in there at first). After much trial and error, I ended up with something that smelled much like very yeasty alcohol. And it did take on a life of its own...
